Painting Drums

A while ago, well actually a very long time ago (two years though I thought it was only 1 until today) I started a project. I was going to paint one of my drum kits. It all started well and I got the first rack tom finished and it looked great (see picture on left.) Then for whatever reason I never finished the other two drums, the bass drum and floor tom and I just carried on playing my other drum kit that looked awful but didn’t sound too bad.
But not I’m playing in a Battle of the Bands on Thursday and the organisers are using my drums for the backline (the stuff that all the other bands will use too). So I have brought the project back to life and have given myself 6 days to finish the other two drums with limited supplies in hand, particularly paint!
Here are some pictures from today’s effort, I’ll post more as the project goes on over the next few days.

My friend Cal who helped me paint today and on the right the bass drum (note I’ve decided to paint it all white in case I run out of black by Thursday), the ghetto blaster blasting out tapes and Henry the cat nosing around.
Some close up shots of the two drums. Tomorrow the floor tom (right) will have the two black stripes put on and hopefully finished with clear lacquer. The bass drum is going to be subjected to lost more coats of white!
